No deer were killed. But I sacrificed some hunting time last week to scout for late season food sources. Here in the midwest, if you don't have a really good food source nearby you ain't gonna see any deer during the late season. Anyway I found that the farmer had left some beans standing near the edge of the woods due to the fact that some trees had blown over in the field before harvest. A good snow and cold weather was all I needed to hunt the spot. Tracks in the snow revealed the deer were really hitting the beans now. I don't hunt field edges too often so I setup along some trails heading towards the beans. It almost worked. The deer headed towards the field in a single file line on a trail 60 yards to the north of me. 24 deer total! Considering I've only seen about 30 deer this season it was a hell of a good night! Good luck out there guys!
