56" Bear T/D opinions?
« on: December 18, 2013, 10:12:00 AM »
I would like to hear from those that have a 'A' riser and 'A' limbs making a 56" bow. How do you like it? Finger pinch? Loss of stability?

I have a 28" draw.  thanks, ~ joe

Sorry I can't answer your question exactly, but I do shoot a Bear 1965 48" magnum, and I love it, I have a 26 1/2" draw.

i have no experience with one, but if I was going to go for a takedown bear that would be it.  (I only draw 27, and love shorter bows).

Joe,I like my original Type 1 A risers and I use them with the #1 limbs, I don't find a big difference from the  B with the same limbs, probably same geometry having the same limbs. I draw 29".

Joe:  I use a 56-inch Bear TD for turkey hunting with 50# limbs.  It's the shortest bow I own. I like it.  I've found Bear takedowns to be quite stable and forgiving. I  have a 28-inch draw, and I do detect a bit of finger pinch. Not really very bothersome unless I shoot a lot of arrows.  I only shoot it for about six weeks, before and during turkey season, so the pinch doesn't become a problem.

I had a magnesium A-riser with #1
limbs.   Even though I draw 30", shooting it nearly everyday I became accustom to the feel.  I felt like I shot it just fine and didn't have any problems.   Today I've gone in the other direction (B-riser w/#3 limbs/ 64"bow).   I prefer the longer bow but feel I could still shoot a 56" bow if I wanted too.   I think the toughest thing would be to switch back and forth between bows that have significant differences in length.

One thing I love about sites like this is how you  can take things away fom them even if they don't diectly pertain to you. From threads on here I have decided with my 29+ draw length I'm not goingto bother playing with anything under 58"

Shooting a 58" bow with a 15" riser isn't like shooting a 58" bow with a 20" riser!

When I was drawing about 28", I preferred the #3 limbs on my short riser. On my B riser I preferred the #2 limbs.

I have both the A and B riser.  For stump shooting and a 3D course the A riser shoots fine. When shooting indoors at the local club for score the B riser will add a few(very few) points.  PS On a good day I have a 28" draw.
