Newbie Success!
« on: January 04, 2014, 07:51:00 PM »
Well less than a month ago my brother who has bowhunted for a long time and has taken many great bucks surprised me and said "I want to buy a trad bow and give it a try". Well he got really good quickly and said ok I'm ready. I fletched him up some arrows and gave him some broadheads. So for about a week now he has been taking his new bow to the tree. I think tonight was his third hunt.

He called this morning and wanted me to go with him. I quickly accepted and went with him toting the video camera.  We climb up and locked on another stand behind one of his and sat ready. One deer close early but right at last shooting light this doe walked down the trail. He did everything perfectly and made a great shot. She went down in a hurry and his first trad deer is in the books. I can't relay how much that meant to me and I am so glad I swapped the bow for the camera tonight. When she came along it was too dark for the camera though but I didn't care.

Congrats Bro!

The opportunities for enjoyment and kinship abound.

Capitalizing on one is what separates the ‘wish I had’s’ vs the “glad I did’s”. This special episode in life will always remain guarded by the two of you.

Thank you for sharing this splendid moment and treasured event.
