Wood arrows 32" draw

Been thinking of trying wood for the first time,my draw is 32"-32"1/4. I am guessing my options could be limited. I shoot 50lb bow with 125-150 grn heads. Arrow length would need to be 33 1/2" to BOP.

You can have arrows footed to compensate for the draw, and they will look extremely sweet.

3/8 dowels will work there 36" you need to test spine though .

I was in the same boat as you and our options are limited I've shot footed shafts and they are great but can be expensive for some reason most wood shaft manufactures can only make there shafts 32" (I've emailed or called most of them)

the options I've found are
1.) Forester wood shafts  http://www.forresterwoodshafts.com/index.html
(Kevin is great to deal with and can make top quality shafts in the lengths you need)
2.) RepArrows hard wood footing that fits on your point tapper  http://www.angelfire.com/biz/Ironwood/woodbows.html
(haven't tried these but I've heard good things)
3.) Arrow fix tool (basically a jig for making footings that fit on your point tapper.  Pricey but you could do your own footings.)
4.) custom footed shafts expensive but can be some awesome arrows

Hope this helps I now shoot nothing but wood and I love it there is just something about longbows and wood arrows!!

Why not foot the end of the wood shaft with a 3" aluminum foot.

I have to second the above recommendation for Forrester wood shafts.  Kevin knows his stuff, has fair prices, and great to deal with.    

BTW, I wish I had your dilemma with that long draw       ...even though I would prefer one just a bit shorter.   :D

There are more 32'' draw folks out there than I thought, we may have to start our own support group? I always wonder if our longer draw changed brace ht and nock point for the same style of bows at 28'' or less? like HH bows guys shoot 6 1/2''and less I end up 6 3/4 to 7''

I could use a 1/2 more arrow too. I always made sure I used the 125 magnus because it's shape would allow drawing it almost onto the shelf. It's probably the biggest reason I went to carbon. The carbons are 32" also, but it doesn't get tapered for the point so it is little longer when finished. I still bump the broadhead on the riser sometimes.
Actually ordered 2 doz AD carbons directly from the mfg cut 32 1/2".
The footing on the wood shafts sounds like a good idea. I might try that.
I've always wondered how people use those treeshark broadheads that come back over the shaft making you need a longer arrow.

Tedd, I believe those styles are only for screw in (carbon / aluminum) which can be gotten in 32" lengths (at least the carbons).

Even those with slightly less draw can use a longer wood arrow.  I draw around 30.5, and although field points work great, it creates problems with broadheads when using a 31" woodie shaft.

I am guessing that the reason for the current length is that the standard used to be 28" draw, period and arrows were made to accommodate that, and the equipment used to create those shafts made them just long enough for that.

Thanks for the help guys, gives me a some options. I like the footing idea, always admire nicely crafted wood arrows. Reparrow might be the way to go as far as footing goes, at least at first,beings this is my first attempt at wood arrows. Even though I have seen some beautiful footed shafts. Guess the real benefit here would be the added weight up front. I like an arrow to hit with all the authority it can.

if want heavy weight forward arrows I would check out Forresters heavy hitters he even makes some cool 5/16 hardwood shafts that tapper to 11/32 in the last few inches kind of a built in weight forward system and you can use 11/32 heads.  Let us know what you come up with and post some pics of the finished arrows.

I pull 31-1/2"  because I have such a hard time finding 32". Love wood, have use aluminum and greatly dislike carbon....Surewood shafts is another source for extra long wood.

The longest shaft that we make is 32" or a 31" BOP.  Steve

Try bamboo shafts, You can get them to 39 inches and 100lb spines.
