Am about to make my first wooden arrows. Also first time shooting wood arrows. Question is should i shoot bare shaft at full length, then cut them down till i get the correct spine.

Many folks believe, and I am one, that if you bare shaft woodies, you will have a bunch of cracked and broken shafts laying around.  I don't bare shaft wood shafts anymore.

I know where my woodies stand as far as lenght and point weight for accurate shooting.  I cutthem aninchlong and bare shaft a new lot.  Partly because I just like bare shafting.  If you are far out, you may breakshafts,
It is part of the fun and you will know more about your bow when done

I bare shaft and if a shaft breaks it wasnt supposed to be an arrow.Bare shafting and you get shafts that fly good they will only fly even better with fletchings.
