Bear Greenie Grizzly
« on: January 09, 2014, 10:38:00 AM »
Just wanted to share my old Greenie Bow with you all.  I purchased this bow several years ago and it was in such good shape I didn't want to shoot it.  Then I had a buddy who wanted to get into trad bows so I knocked the dust off and put a string on it and loaned it to him.  I've since put a Lefties R Us string on it, have tuned it up and have been shooting it a bit recently and was blown away at how smooth, quiet and accurate this old bow is!  I may have to bench my Acadian for the rest of the season and take this classic to the woods with me to finish off our Louisiana Deer Season!  Here are a few pics!

They were.....and still are one of the best hunting bows you will ever lay your hands on. Light in the hand, smooth, great grip and just great shooters. Those bows from the 70's are just the ticket!!!

Ugly green bow with wide ugly tips. Got the same thing in a 52" Kmag. Pretty nice shooter. Could use a 50# draw.

I see them on the auction site with those red stickers on them all the time. Does it add value to keep the sticker on? I think I would pull it off but thats me...  :dunno:

The only thing the orange sticker shows is how little use the bow has had-mint vs used.  If you're a collector, that mint bow always looks better.

I have one identical to the ones above. It was given to me by an older man who could no longer shoot it, he bought it new and wanted it to go to someone who would use it. Out of all the bears I've owned, it's one of my favorites. I'll always keep it as well since it was gifted, unless I gift it one day as well.

Mine has the green and brown riser wood reversed from those in the pics. Brown glass, green overlays on the nocks. Got it for 45.00 in an archery shop about 1983. Killed my first trad buck with it.

Killed my first trad deer this year with a twin brother to that bow.
An archer tries to find ways to shoot further more accurately, a bowhunter tries to get as close as possible to ensure his shot is accurate.

I have one just like it. I used it for bowfishing but couldn't stand to see carp snot on it. It's now back on the rack and gets used occasionally for target and hunting.

I have always liked the lines and simple shape of Grizzlys. I looked a long time until I found one with the perfect grip. It fits me better than any custom recurve I ever owned.
