South Florida Hog Odyssey
« on: January 17, 2014, 08:20:00 AM »
Bill Langer and his son Benjamin(age 11)are visiting us for Bill's annual Florida hog hunt/filming tour.
They arrived in West Palm Beach yesterday and drove straight to the property to meet up with guide/partner Irv Eichorst.
The wind was right for the Woods stand, so off they went with the idea that Bill would film and Ben would shoot. I had hung a stand above the ladder stand for filming.
After a short wait the feeder went off and a corn robbing raccoon made its way in. Ben's aim was true and there is now one less masked bandit about.
Thirty minutes later Bill hears some grunting and squeals coming from the North.
Bill whispers, "Ben, stand up slowly and get ready..."

I should point out that Ben, although young,is addicted to the outdoors. Shoots his bow every day and has been practicing for this hunt for months. Bill said he's been drilling his 3-D target at 20 yards. This is his first hog hunt though, and you never know what can happen to nerves when the swine show up at close range.
More to come...(the story of TWO bloody arrows)

Bill started his camera rolling as the group of four 50#ish pigs showed up at the feeder.Ben got turned so he'd be ready when a pig gave him a good angle. Bill had poured a small bag of corn under the feeder and the pigs went right to it.

The problem was they were all facing Ben, offering no shot angle whatsoever. Finally a two toned brown and white boar got turned and quartered away....
