3 Piece Long Bows for the Recurve Shooter
« on: January 23, 2014, 07:52:00 PM »
I've shot recurve forever and have always had a fascination with three piece longbows.  I've only shot two and I felt afterwards that the lack of cast was noticeable. Are there any three piece Lbs out there that you as a recurve shooter felt made the transition a smooth one?  One that made you feel that you didn't loose anything when you switched up?

Zipper and RER, that's my thoughts, I own a Zipper and have shot a RER. I have recurve and longbow bow limbs for my Zipper at the same poundage.

In my order of preference, Morrison ILF, Morrison Shawnee, and a close third, Morrison Cheyenne.   ;)

Trust me, you will not have trouble with "cast", very few recurves can keep up with his longbow limbs.

My RER LXR lets me do a direct comparison because both the recurve and longbow limbs are the same draw weight...I consider them to be interchangeable when it comes to performance...I was going to chronograph them but I called Sue to save myself the trouble...she assured me they are very close

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

ACS  is one of the fastest, if not the fastest, three piece hybrid out there.  I have several and don't feel I'm giving up anything to recurves.  In fact, my ACSs are faster than the few recurves I have at the same weigth.

Dryad Longbow, either the ACS or standard Orion longbow limbs. Rally fast and really quiet, not horrible to shoot without silencers even and you could pick up aset of recurve limbs and shoot them on the same riser!

I have been shooting an ACS 68" 61# with the RC riser. Performance wise I don't really feel like I've given up any performance but gained some forgiveness from the longbows rigidness. The features I do miss is it is not as compact in length and the sight window is shorter than I'd prefer.

The Sasquatch hybrid long bow is one of the smoothest shooting highest performance bow you can buy right now. This bow makes the transition a piece of cake.

I offer custom grips to match your shooting style and balance the limbs to a tee.... Check em out bro.

Firefly by Jim jones.  It's been my gold standard for smooth shooting.  Said I'd never sell mine, but I just love one piece longbows more so I'm gonna have to put it up.

1. LeOn StEwArT sLaMmEr!!!!

2. Dryad ACS.  I'd take it over the A&H version all day.  Did not care for the A&H version one bit.
