She did it, and I'm proud of her!
« on: January 26, 2014, 03:34:00 PM »
First blood!

My wife (and hunting partner), Silver Wolf (a.k.a. – Jennifer), finally scored with her new Schafer.  A tree rat!!!  After missing her turkey this fall (she shot just underneath), and with zero shots at a deer.... well, it’s her first traditional kill!!!  And yes, a head shot!  And, yes… he was tasty (taste like Hardee's chicken)!!!

Long story kept short, the squirlzzzzzzes on our property have been chewing on my John Deer tractor.   First it was the gas cap, and later I had an actual hole in my gas tank.  Soooooo, open season on all tree rats!!  (That is, during legal hunting times in Virginia).

Congrats, big one!  If that's all it has to eat I was expecting a more anorexic speciman.  Do you suppose with all that green it thinks it's found the "mother of all acorns"? Is hunting over tractors considered ethical?  I'm sorry, I'm sorry...as I've already pointed out I'm deeply depressed it's K-zoo weekend and I'm not there!  I just need to back away from the keyboard....

Ron,

The chew marks usually are a good indicator of critters.

I know. We had a plastic garbage can on the porch for squirrel corn and they chewed right through it. We have a galvanized steel one there now and I hope they get zinc poisoning if they try chewing through that   :)

I don't know what it is with squirrels and gas tanks. They chewed up the vapor recycling device on the gas tank of my truck twice! A 500.00 repair and won't pass inspection without it.
Anyway good Job!!

Jennifer, great going. The squirrel died in a noble manner-to a Silvertip.LOL
If you can nail a squirrel a turkey does not stand a chance.
David, hope you guys can make it to the STAR shoot in June.
Thanks, Roy
Maybe it is time to shoot what I have on the rack
