Are you sticking it to the bare aluminum? You may need something like fletch tite for that. No glue commonly used for archery sticks to every material. I've never used the glue in question but you may have to put a cap wrap on it to make it bond to the shaft.

Try the tape you will not be disappointed. Its the best thing I've used.

Did you clean the shafts with 99% alcohol, try a scotch brite pad to clean the shaft with first. Don't touch the shaft with your fingers after you clean it and fletch right away. I've used the tape and it works good, but it can give you headaches in the summer when it gets real hot. Put a dab of Fletch tite at the beginning and the end of your fletch after you use tape. I also think the tape has a shelf life so ??? There is a thread here some where that shows a great way to apply the tape. Try a search or maybe someone will chime in on the how to.

You can get away with more prepping aluminum than you can carbon...I use sandpaper to prep aluminum...I also managed to find a local supply of the old white tube Fletchtite...seems to be better than the Platinum although I believe Bohning has recently addressed the issues with Platinum

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

scotch brite or sand paper make the palish finish on the X7 look dull
lousy looking arrow after that….
will call boning and see about the platinum
will try tape meanwhile

Get yourself a can of BullDog Adhesive promoter and spray your shafts, it dries clear and you won't have any problems reguardless of finish type or brand of glue used. I never even clean my shafts anymore, just spray them.

im not sure on plain aluminum but ive always crested/capped my arrows when using any glue unless its super glue but even then i atleast cap it because it does promote adhesion and gives me more confidence in the field plus as an added bonus it makes the arrows more of your own custom...but maybe a little prep work is involved to fletch onto bare shafts w/o crest or caps...maybe worth the little extra time for a better adhesion. i know the make clear caps and then to refletch is a simple proccess...its really a win win with no muss no fuss. just my two cents tho. hope this helps.

I didn't initially catch the part about you using the glue on your other shafts. That is strange. You may try cleaning the shafts first with acetone or MEK. A lot of people use alcohol but that doesn't really work and may leave impurites that inhibit the glue from working.

I suspect the hard anodized finish on the X7
compared to the wood finish on the aluminium legacy

Bulldog can be bought at any auto paint supplier, I get mine at O'Riley's auto parts. Comes in a spray can, dries clear/invisible almost instantly. It is used to make automotive finishes stick to door jams or any plastic/flexable parts to be painted. Been using this stuff for years on arrows with no problems. Check it out, you won't be dissapointed.
