i know there are a lot of tent threads on here.
and i read and follow heaps of them, and do tons of research else where, however i am looking for a tent to serve a specific purpose.
i am planning a float trip this year into northern BC.
fly in paddle out!doing the trip in canoes( freighters) or inflatables- still working that out.
so here are the criteria as i see them:
1.most of the camping seems to happen on gravel bars.
2. really want to take a small fold up wood stove ( kinda like this
http://store.kifaru.net/stoves-p87.aspx )- will be camping in one spot for a few days at a time.
3. so need either stand up, or at least 5' head room- so there is a little bit of space incase of weather- although this is not alaska!!!
4. to sleep 3 adults, and gear.
i was first thinking of a light canvas bow tent or tunnel tent. but i think they flex too much with the wind- so could be a problem with stoves. a poled tent will be hard to peg down and stabilize in the gravel.
was thinking of using the canoes, laden with some canvas bags of gravel, one down either side to attach lines to.!!???
i have the ability and machinery to make my own structure- any ideas or input?
any similar experience.
what do the guys do on the AK float trips.
