I knew I heard an Echo !

Today the weather was miserable around here..  Quite cool and light rain much of the day. But late in the evening it let up enough that I decided to get out and sneak around a bit.

Decided to slip into my shaggie to see if it would make any difference. I still got spotted by this pig.. Several times but perhaps she didn't belive what she was seeing !!

Just before dark I saw this lone pig out in the brush.  I worked to within 35 yards or so and she saw me. After she gave me the once over she went back to rooting and I was able to get five yards closer.  I would have felt a lot better if I could have slipped in another five or ten yards but I could see it wasn't going to happen.

When she got to where she was quartering slightly away I drew the 62 pound Echo and released the arrow. I lost sight of the arrow in flight but heard it hit. She took off in a hard run but slowed to a trot by the time she had gone 40 yards. She stopped for a moment and snorted a couple of times then moved out of sight. I stood still for 5 minuted and listened but heard nothing.

Quietly I moved forward to where the arrow hit her and saw it sticking in the ground, it was blood soaked. Slowly I moved up to the last spot I saw her and was seeing good blood on the ground by the time I reached my marked spot.. I followed the trail another 15 or 20 yards and saw her laying just ahead. The wound in the picture is where the arrow hit, it exited just behind her off shoulder.

Damn Pat, I should never be surprised by your exploits ... But I always am.  I can't believe there is a hog left anywhere near where you live ... You are impressive man!

Mr. Pat it looks like the echo is treating you right, and not so good for the hogs.

I just picked up a heavier poundage bow for the hogs. Hopefully I'll be able to shoot it before to long. My family and I got T-boned by an 18 wheeler that ran a red light so we are all moving a little slow the last few days.

Keep up the good work Brother

Ben - glad to hear you and the family are okay.

Pat - "Decided to slip into my shaggie to see if it would make any difference".  Really?  The only thing that makes a difference in a coastal pigs life is when you stay home.

Sooner or later the word is gonna get out amongst the piggie population about you. Until then, keep on keeping on!

There are still some hogs left in Texas? I figured you had taken them all to the big pig pen in the sky by now.
