wood arrow questions
« on: February 07, 2014, 07:40:00 PM »
Im switching to wood and need advise.
The first one is grain orientation, is it a big deal?how should it be done?

Second is finish, what clearcoat works well with what cresting paint and glue?

Lastly is spine, I shoot a 50lb Savannah with FF
Im shooting a 2018 cut to 28.75 with a 125 head
what spine wood should I order? Where would a good point to start cutting?

Thanks for any input

From 3 Rivers:  http://www.3riversarchery.com/buildingwoodarrows.asp

I've had decent luck with the prefinished shafts also. I shoot 55-60s with set ups similar to yours.

David will give you some great advise on arrow building. Also remember that dry time when making arrows is a must(between coats of paint, sealer and such). Also go to the How To Section on the main page and you can find great info as well as build alongs.
