Beman MFX Classics to Beman Centershots, Making the Switch

Hey everyone,

As more than a few of you have pointed out, the wonderful shafts that were the MFX Classics are no longer being manufactured. Bummer. I'm going to miss them.  These are the only shafts I have ever shot out of my Bob Lee (since I bought it in 2009) and I need to find a replacement.  Has anyone made the change to the Centershots?

Would one of you "Arrow Flight Guru's" weigh in with your opinion? It's been a long time since I studied carbon shafts…I like to find one bullet the works and stick with it.  If I get perfect arrow flight with my current setup, what size Centershot should I go with?

Current setup:
  -Bob Lee Take Down Recurve, #60 @ 28"
  -Actual draw length = 27.5"
  -Actual draw weight = estimated 58-59lbs
  -Current shaft: Beman MFX Classic 400's
  -Arrow length (Throat of knock to end of shaft) =  31 1/4"
  -75 grain insert
  -125 grain Broadhead
  -(3) 5" feathers
  -Cap Wrap  [/LIST]  

As I said before, the above arrow flies perfect out of my bow. It has always punched two holes in every deer/hog I have ever shot. I think part of that is due to the heaviness of the arrow.   I'd like to keep the arrows in the same weight range if at all possible.

You might be better off going with the Easton Axis Traditional shafts. They're closer to the MFXs than anything else. They also use the HIT insert.

The Centershots will become your new friend. I have been shooting them since the day they were introduced. They are very durable and I think the weight is just about right.

I second the vote for Axis Traditionals.  Hunted with them last year and love them.

I'm thinking to switch to Axis instead of centershots myself

I switched to the Axis Traditionals instead to keep the same arrow diameter and keep within my arrow weight as well.  They are a little lighter but tuned up just fine.

Axis Trad's are 9.8 gpi, the Centershot's are 9.6, both .400 spine. Both .003" straightness too. Only difference is graphics and components and the pricetag.

Actually that's not the only difference. The Axis Trads are smaller in diameter which makes them closer to the same as Beman MFXs. The Beman Centershot is larger in diameter of the two.
