On stand now waiting for pigs....

Tuesday morning Dad and I left freezing cold CT 8am.
Landed in Sunny and warm Orlando Fla 11am.
Checked into motel 6 in Fort Pierce about 3pm.
Met Irv, put our bows together and headed towards the new hog land.

Irv showed us the gates, locks, boundaries etc.
The property had been deer hunted in the past and had numerous old treestands and three ancient feeders that were not running when Irv toured the property the day before.
He corned up three of the old set ups that morning.
It was 4:30 by the time our tour ended, so Dad and I checked the wind, split up and went to opposite ends of the ranch...

I saw lots of hog sign and three deer, in an area Irv called the bottom.
Dad had lots of hog action on the north end of the ranch that lead to him arrowing that big red boar. I'll let him tell that story.

I meant to keep typing the story from the stand.
But I had a group of hogs come in while writing...
Long story short, put a good arrow on a 70lb sow.
Donated it to an old fella that sells boiled peanuts on a street corner down here. He has 17 grand children, most of which he takes care of himself. He is well into his 80's.
By the time we got the hog to him and met Jim, Irv and three new hunters from Jersey, Frank, Dave and Jaimen for dinner...well it's midnight and I'm headed to bed. Will continue tomorrow.....

On night 2 I moved up near Dad and sat by a feeder that Irv had fixed up and corned up.

At about 5:30 a group of hogs came down a heavily  used trail towards me. When they hit a little corn I had thrown out by hand, their noses hit the ground as I hit anchor and picked the spot on a big red sow...

The woodsman tipped carbon arrow slipped dead center through the vitals....

The hogs scattered, as my heart raced and I watched the big red sow on her last sprint across an open grassy marshland.

When darkness set I took up the easy to follow blood trail that went 125 yards to my pig.

Dad and I skinned and butchered the hog late into the evening. The dried blood on our forearms and sore muscles confirming a successful hunt.

Hey there Tommy Boy good to hear from you!
We were remembering the hog/bow fishing trip that we took to Texas a few years back, as Dad and I arrowed 4 tilapia yesterday.
