Anyone remember Shadow longbows?
« on: February 24, 2014, 10:00:00 PM »
I owned a couple of them back in the 90s. Just curious if anyone remembers them or what happened to them? They were a forward handle longbow.

I'm glad someone remembers them I have a business card. I sure would like to find one of the bows that I sold. They were some good shooters!

I remember them well. Vince Yak was the bowyer. He made several style longbows with the reverse handle Eclipse as one of the models. He gave up making the bows to build custom homes I believe. I still have a Shadow Eclipse that I traded with the late Barb Dumas for another Shadow longbow which was also a nice bow and very forgiving and quiet. I love the Eclipse bow and its reverse grip. I wish he still was in the business. Paul

The Thunderhorn Coup stick is about as close to the shadows asiI have seen. I wonder if they shoot as well as they look?

That is true Steve they are close. I had a coup stick once it shot real nice I should of kept it.There are a few others that look similiar to the Eclipse but I tell ya Vinces finish and fit and just all around quality was unnreal.I'd like to see who else remebers the Shadow bows. there was a friend of Terry Greens I can't remeber his name down south who really liked Vince and his bows he had a mess of them...

I was selling them for a while.Vince was getting into the river rafting business last I talked to him.  As much as I liked him I believe he was one who couldn't be in one place for too long. Too many things to do in this life.

I'm still searching out the guy I sold mine too. Best I can remember it was 58"-46#@27 wenge handle and dark stained red elm limbs. It sure would be nice if I could find him and he still has it. Maybe I can talk him out of it.   :bigsmyl:
