Need a new tab
« on: February 25, 2014, 10:13:00 PM »
My old 3 finger under tab has finally seen its better days. Any suggestions on a new one ? I cant even remember who made the one I have now its 1 piece of leather with a finger hole I have tried calf hair tabs and just cant get used to them. I know their are some great leather smiths out there that can make one just need some info on where to look

Thanks

Not leather, but I really like the Saunders mono-tab.(no spacer or layers, just a slick plastic tab).P.S. You won't ever wear one out!

Check with FerretWyo (Randy) I think he makes them.  With the number of big elk he has shot, they have to be good.

I use the Bateman Cordovan but just ordered the AAE Cavalier Elite.  I tried the AAE twice now and it helped me keep my wrist flat so I decided to pick one up.

I shoot split-finger and really like the Fred Eichler tab, which happens to be made by Bateman.  I would recommend a Bateman for 3 under based on my experience.  Very durable, but still great feel with no pain.

I make a lot of tabs because I like to experiment and i am also cheap. I am also a pack rat and have bags full of leather scraps from shoes and leather purses even mink pelts from thrift stores. leather purses can be had at yard sales for a buck or two. Having said that I like a calf hair tab.
uess because i have used one forever. thats what i use for hunting.

I like Black Widow tabs. They last forever and aren't stiff. I use their "superleather" one.

I just got a couple black widow tabs. They are very stiff compared to what I am used to (bought them from 3 rivers). Not sure if I'm going to like these or not, but they had good reviews

The Eichler tabs that Bateman put out are tops and the price borders on cheap for what you get.
