ACSs for me, too, but don't take my/our word for it, check out Blackie's bow reports. ACS is the fastest extreme r/d longbow he's tested.

A&Hs are very fast.
BUT
They are also very quiet smooth shooting bows. I don't feel that the ACS limb gives up other desireable shooting qualities to get speed, except for maybe some durability by using the carbon limb.
They are top performers all the way around in my opinion.
I had a really good group going... until I shot the second arrow.

My best bows are the ones someone else didn't want.

Did not mean to insinuate that I was in any way affiliated with Horne Archery. This info came from their website. I should have stated that. My error. Thanks Joe vt for bringing this to my attention.

I have never shot any of Kirk's bows but would have to say to give them a try ( bigfoot bows ) based on the discussions I have had with him on here and the praise they receive here on Tradgang as well. Steve with Eaglewing makes a really fast smooth hybrid as well. Other great choices are A&H ACS CX, Centuars with carbon limbs, Zippers, and my personal favorite Widows. The Black Widows aren't quite up there in speed with some of these other bows I have mentioned which will shoot 200 fps with a 9 gpp. It shoots about 190 fps at 9gpp which is plenty fast for me and it doesn't have some of the more really extreme curves like some of the other bows have which for me makes it easier to string and unstring. Plus it is a very forgiving bow and the guys at Black Widow are all top notch guys.

At 7.5 gpp I would think many bows would do the same, no?

I'm getting 190fps at 9.2gpp with my dryad ACS CG limbs. It might not be as fast as the A&H but in my experience it is much much more enjoyable to shoot! Your results may vary!

Caribow Peregrine for sure. It also had an incredible smooth draw, so you can easily go a few pounds higher
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that string! [/i]

I would vote for the Centaur, bamboo/carbon limbs. My PL is fast, Shawnee and Big Jim Buffalo also fast, all with carbon in the limbs. Centaur is still the winner in my"stable" of bows. That being said, speed isn't everything, cast is equally important. How the bow handles a heavier arrow will be key if you are dropping weight in a hunting bow. I don't think you will be unhappy with any of the bows mentioned.

I have owned Centaurs and currently own a couple ACS bows, they are fast. I can't believe no one has mentioned the Toelke Whip.
For me personally I find the ACS a bit touchy on release,(probably my bad form),the whip is much more user friendly for me and doesn't give up enough in speed to make a difference it shoots right with my recurves of the same poundage.

Are you confused yet ? Lol....lots of options out there !

My vote goes to Centaur, but I've not shot that many !

Don't overlook stikbows by Rich Emery.  I've never chronoed mine but I love how it feels in my hands.
