Foley bows...
« on: March 13, 2014, 08:14:00 AM »
A few months ago, I sent my Foley recurve to Ron Foley to make and install a new set of limbs for my takedown.  This would have been mid-January.  I was in touch with him throughout the process and he kept me up to date on his progress.  I heard from him last week in an email and he stated he was finishing up my bow and told me he was to send the bow last Friday (3/7).  I have been trying to contact him since, trying to get a tracking number or other info on shipment but I have not been able to get ahold of him.  I know he can be difficult to get a hold of at times, but usually he always gets back to me.  I have not heard from him and I have sent repeated emails and made several phone calls/messages.  He makes a fantastic bow but I am a little concerned that I have not heard from him and I expected to receive the bow by now, unless it is held up in mail???  When I sent the bow to him, he recieved it in 3 days.  Not sure why I have not heard from him as like I said before he usually gets back to me.  If you have any experiences with Ron's bows or service, please let me know.  Thanks in advance!

He might be busy with shows? Bowyers are like artists sometimes....

I was thinking that or even family problems.  Not trying to set a negative tone with my initial post, just a little concerned and was wondering what everyones experiences were.  Just trying to ease my worried mind!

We all know Ron here in Texas, I don't have one of his bows but several guys in our club do, great bows. I bet Ron is on the road I know he goes to Compton, this weekend and may stay for PBS later.

He's a great guy and always is good for what he says he will do... he's just hard to get ahold of at times.

I do not own one of his bows but I know Ron, and can't imagine why you should be worried about your transaction. From everything I have seen and heard, Ron is a stand up guy! I would bet (and sure hope this is the case) that Ron is out of pocket for some reason and will get everything straightened out for you!

Thanks for the responses guys!  That is what I thought, all positive words on Ron and his work.  I still haven't heard from him nor have I received my bow.  I'm hoping all is well on his end.

I own two of Ron's bows.  I had a similar experience late last year while trying to get a longbow I'd ordered.  I finally received the bow, and now feel it was worth the wait.
Ron has a "real job", in addition to making bows.  He may well be off the grid due to that piece of his schedule.  I'm sure you'll get your bow soon, and you'll too decide it was worth the wait

Just and update...I did indeed receive my bow from Ron last week.  He got in touch with me and apologized for not being in touch, he had mentioned unforeseen circumstances so maybe he had personal issues he had to attend to which I completely understand.  It was definitely work the wait though!  Ron makes a fantastic bow and the new limbs were exactly what I was hoping for!  Enjoying it very much!
