Your Favorite Camo...

Hunting seasons are upon us, so why not do this again?  I always find the differences in camo preferences interesting, given various areas and times of year.

I like to keep it KISS so have two favorite bowhunting camo patterns.  Both work well here in ND.

For the vast majority of my bowhunting, I like Predator Camo (I prefer Predator Grey).  It works great Fall through Winter in pretty much any cover/terrain/situation. The stuff is unreal, particularly in low light conditions such as morning/evening.

For hunting the Badlands, I like the older military 6 color Desert Camo.  Much like Predator, it has big contrasting areas and the colors are virtually custom made for Fall in Western ND.

I've worn Mossy Oak Break Up for years, in the original & now the newer version. MO BU is an effective pattern and is readily available in inexpensive, washer & dryer friendly garments.

If I had a choice for free ASAT or Predator but I wear whatever was on clearance after the season.  It all seems to work well though, as many on here can attest, even plaid and jeans work.

Most of the deer have moved out of the woods into the suburbs flower gardens and backyards so we have changed camo.

I favor the Weber Grill cover.

"Roofline" looks like shinges and works best when I want to do the James Taylor thing 'up on the rooftop'.

"Pressure Treated" blends in with decks well.

I agree that almost any camo will work for deer in the majority of circumstances.  However, I like to blend in well for a variety of reasons.  There are a lot of turkeys in the areas where I deer and turkey hunt, so it helps to blend in to keep the turkeys from spotting you and sounding the alarm.
My new preference is CamoWest VanishHybrid.  I used it last turkey season, also in Africa, and in the deer woods already as our season openened last weekend.  It has blended remarkably well in all of those conditions despite the vast differences in terrain.  Also, Marc Carlton is a trad bowhunter like us and a very likeable guy.  Lastly it just looks cool, and I can use all the help I can get

I have BOXES AND BOXES of camo. I have never paid much attention to what brand name it is. I would bet I have never hunted in a matching outfit...gloves,pants,shirt,hat all of the same pattern.

I would bet my most used outfit this fall will be my Columbia wool camo pants (because I like them), and some version of a plaid wool shirt or coat.

I have always held that camoflauge is not a pattern but a concept.

Whatever fits and is on sale. The cheaper the better! To me, camo is camo for the most part. Most anywhere that I hunt, any camo is as good as the next in my opinion.

The new Mothwing Mountain Mimicry is extremely versatile, and is in the process of replacing my old favorite of Skyline Apparition.  I, too, have tons of old camo and most of it is good in many applications.  As I get older, I still look for bargains, but have also begun to realize the value in getting good quality hunting clothing to begin with.  Cutting corners with raingear, first-layer to the skin stuff, etc., doesn't make much sense given the modern materials which wick away moisture, etc.  

But is anybody like me and has a hard time getting rid of old camo clothing?  I've even thought it would be fun to host a "throwback hunt" where everyone had to use camo at least 15-20 years old.
