2 piece longbow
« on: March 25, 2014, 11:39:00 AM »
I'm looking for a 2 piece longbow for backpack/travel. I would like for it to be d-shaped when strung. Could you guys recommend some bowyers. Mowhawk isn't taking orders or I would've gone with Vince. Quiet and stable are my maine concern for this bow. Thanks in advance... Will

I just got a Bama Bows Elite Classic with bamboo and zebra wood and have been very impressed. He uses a carbon fiber "locket socket" system like BW and it is bullet proof - even for a 85# bow.  The bow is fast and shoots exactly where I'm looking. Prices are good too.

Howard Hill Archery has a great takedown system, and you will get fast service.

My two favs are Big Jims and Jim's at Centaur though the latter isn't a d-shaped bow.  Big Jim's is invisible and no tools necessary.  Centaur's is super interesting and lightweight.

This. You can have a top of the line bow 3 weeks from now. The bow-bolt take down system is rock solid.

Besides the great options put out so far, a Great Northern bow (Traditional, Bushbow or Lil' Creep) with the Jack-Knife system would fit all the criteria you want.

What about Steve Turay at Northern Mist, he offers the Connexion hinge?

I'm leaning towards the Bama or Super D. Anyone shot both? Thoughts on the two would be greatly appreciated.

Another vote for Howard Hill.  I really like the sleeve system--been around forever and tough as nails. I really like my Owl TD. Fast service on orders and top quality bows.  Steve Turay at Northern Mist uses the connection hinge system but also told a friend on mine that he will make one with the sleeve as well.

Three Rivers Tomahawk Bows. But not a d-shape.
Great bows however

I hate D bows and actually didn't mind the Super D. That's how good they are.

I have several two piece longbows and a couple D shape ones but I still prefer my tomahawk two piece longbows.

Bama Bows rocks!  Love their takedown system.  The straight limbs are the easiest thing to pack ever.
