Buckeye Burl Riser (Big Jim) T.C.
« on: April 06, 2014, 02:40:00 AM »
I wanted a one of a kind bow and that's exactly what I got . I couldn't be happier. A thing of beauty and it shoots just as good as it looks..
THIS ONE'S MY SPEARCHUCKER . 23/64 cedar only.
Can't wait to slay some fury critters with it.

That is one fine bow! I really like the wood combos, and that horn overlay really completes the package! Congrats on a great bow.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

Thanx buddy . I knew if anyone could make the buckeye work it would be Big Jim. The overlay is Impala. Gonna slay lots of bunnies with this beauty.  X_x

I've seen it in knife handles, but this is the first time in a bow. Buckeye makes it lucky as well. Very Nice.

Holy moly!!!  The Big Guy has really outdone himself.  I tell ya, 2014 has seen some really spectacular sticks from our bowyers.  I only have a couple bows planned for the foreseeable future i.e 2015, and I will say a TC like this is likely one of them.

That is one beautiful bow!  I'm curious, has the buckeye burl been stabilized?  I really like the woodsy, earthy depth of this wood.  What are the limb veneers made from?  They, along with the horn, really compliment the buckeye burl.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Mike.  Enjoy shooting that beauty!

@mmgrode the buckeye was stabilized with Turn Tex "CACTUS JUICE" as far as the limbs I think they are an end cut of B/W ebony but when big  Jim was trying to tell me about them I was to busy flapping my gums to listen.

Cool stuff, Mike.  I might have to look into this to use on my bows as well.  Very cool bow!
