I have a great spot fro Rios in Kansas. I've "guided" 7 or 8 guys including my young son to beautiful Rio Grande gobblers. I've sat and watched
hundreds of turkeys go by at a time, counting once over 50
strutting toms below me in a green field. Over the past 5 or 6 years I can't begin to count the days and long miles logged from Michigan to hunt out in the land of Oz. But there have been no stickbow turkeys for me out there. Lots of frustration from too many turkeys I guess. There have been some great opportunities passed waiting for that trophy tom and there have been a couple "perfect" shots that ended up leaving me scratching my head.
This year brought a change of scenery. Job demands, PBS demands, and growing up kid demands just plain took Kansas out of the picture for me this year. I have been working a lot in Oklahoma this year and was granted permission to hunt turkey on a nice little piece of riverbottom. I arrived last night to get a little turkey hunting in before heading to the factory Monday morning.
Look what I found :D
