Favorite 66" one piece longbow & why?

Thinking about getting a one piece 66" R/D longbow.

How about a 66" Toelke Whip? Talk about buttery smooth and super quiet.

I retired a Checkmate 53# 64 in. and got a 66 in. 47# Checkmate. Its so sweet I can shoot it all day.A little lighter and a little longer makes a world of difference.

In a 66"?  Leon Stewart's Slammer or his 'regular' R/D..or a Toelke Whip or also Holm-Made

If all out performance, amazing stability, ease of tuning, awesome quietness and you don't care if it has a little reflex in the limbs strung...the Slammer.

If you want that perfect D shape and slightly less all out speed, and perhaps a slight whisker of bump on the shot for a more 'longbow feel, but still sensational quietness...Leon's R/D longbow.

His wait times seem to be 3-6 months depending on what he's scheduled to build.

As an alternative, with sensational craftsmanship also, and perhaps splitting the middle between the Slammer and R/D from Leon...a Toelke Whip.

And Dan and co.'s wait time is crazy short at 6-8 weeks, sometimes way less.  

As a third option, and also outstanding..Holm-Made.  Chads bows are just as nicely made as the other two, and his pricing is possibly a bit less overall so very reasonable.  I think his wait is also not real long.  Actually his Ospreys and such will shoot right up tere with the Slammer.

And the Whip is dang quick too anyway.

All three outstanding bowyers.

You really can't go wrong with any of these three depending on the aesthetics and performance you're looking for.

My first choice would be Leon overall if I HAD to only choose one.

There are so many other choices but those are my top three picks for 66" r/d bows.

Dwyer   66inch original is the sweet one for me!  John McDonald does make a nice longbow too...

I've got 2 66" LB's.

One is a Howard Hill Big 5.  The other is a 2pc Silvertip.

They both are spectacular.  That length makes them very stable and smooth.

If I had to pick one of them, it would be the Silvertip though.  I've only had it a few weeks, but it is fast becoming one of my favorite bows.

I just got this 66" Century 21 Super Nova from my buddy. Just rolled a fresh Astro Flight 14 strand string for it. Hopefully going to get out with it this Saturday. We have to get acquainted with each other.

I Love 66" Longbows. I love em'. I had a Stewart,have a Whip,a Widow,and a A&H all in that length. And can tell you from my personal experience that FOR ME the Widow,and the A&H are the only two that matter. If you really want a damn good 1 piece longbow...look at these 2. I've shot,owned a lot of others. The Widow PLX,and the A&H ACS 1-piece are the best out there IMO. The A&H outperforms the Widow a bit,but the Widow just feels so good in hand,the mass is perfect,it is so smooth drawing,good looking,and consistent that it makes it hard to put down. The A&H is fast,flat shooting,zero handshock,smooth drawing,quiet,and such a well mannered bow that I never go into the deer woods without it. I tell you this. These are 2 of the best you'll ever shoot. Try em'.     rat'

i like the abbott bows,steves partner chris barck is making them still.great bows.it's a toss up for me between them and a fred anderson,i got rid of most others.

I like my 66-inch Robertson mild r/d Primal Styk.

I will stick with my Wes Wallace Royal. I have had it for a number of years now. What makes it right for me is the grip.

James Berry Morningstar,  it shoots the same arrows the same distance with same good flight as my 62" r/d bows.  It simply fits me, super forgiving and accurate, and whisper quiet.

A Liberty Contender.  It is a very well mannered, beautifully made, fun bow to shoot.  The strung profile is the nice D shape that many longbow shooters like, yet you have all of the benefits of an r/d bow.  I would email SteveL about the 66" Contender he just listed on the Classifieds; [email protected] .  It looks like new and it's priced to sell.

Any bow made by James Berry (JD Berry) - you will not find a better bow or a better price anywhere.  They man has been building bows forever, great shooters and the craftsmanship is simply better then most.  I could try to sxplain in words but its when you finally wrap your hand around one and shoot it that you truly understand.  There is a reaosn why he's still making bows decades later - I am just amazed that he doesn't charge more than he does.
