Silvertips just fit, really no other way for me to explain. Beautiful lines, outstanding craftsmanship, and by far the finest people to deal with!

I have talked to a couple dozen bowyers over the past 5 years.  Mostly on the phone ordering bows. I have yet to talk to one that wasn't top-notch; friendly, enthusiastic about their product, interested in pleasing the customer, and knowledgeable.

The Tip is surely a top-flight bow but Dave and Beth "make" the bow for me.

Just got one back that I had made for me in 2006 and sold/traded a few times. Already busted a few nocks with it.

My only real question is, 1 piece or TD?  I like a bow with a little more mass wgt, so I'm thinking TD.

If you like the one piece, the Dymondwood risers have pretty good weight to them.  More than most any other 1 pc I have owned.

I had one and sold it. Just didn't fit me as well as some others. I guess thats why they make so many different kinds. Dave and Beth are great people!!!

I have never shot one, are they really that much better than the high quality bows out there. Not being negative I would really like to know  if they are so special, they sure look pretty.

Larry,
they are excellent bows that do what a hunting bow should.  They are exceptional for a recurve, that is certain.  Dave Windauer's fit/finish/attention to detail is among the very best out there.  There are so many wonderful flavors out there in the tradbow world, to be fair calling one style of bow 'the best ever' is in some ways a disservice to the community and to members' individual tastes.  With high end tradbows it's like with high end cars there are Beemers, and Benzes, and Porsches and Ferraris etc etc-- all a little different yet all outstanding in quality and various performance categories.  Money spent on a Silvertip is money well spent, no doubt about it.  As I have come to learn more about Paul Schafer I have come to admire the man and his legacy more and more.  A larger than life guy, he put a bit of his magic into his bow design.  Mr. Windauer has done a fine job adding his own talent to the mix and paying tribute to that larger than life spirit.  There is some romance to the Silvertips, hence the big and devoted following.  I do think sometimes the fandom borders on fervor, but its easy to understand why, just like with guys who love Hills, the bows just strike a chord with some folks.  It's all just a lot of fun.  I will be doing a writeup on Silvertip's new double carbon option soon.  Stay tuned.

Hahaha I plead the 5th!!  Juggled some bows and funds/ Wanted to help Mike out and also have a chance to try another Tip, and this time a hotrod.  May or may not stay, we'll see.  I actually realized I'm taking a trip next week, so will either have pics and info before the trip or may have to wait until after.

I came from the same place as you with the same question. You should shoot one. I have owned several of the popular customs which are fine bows, but I haven't shot or had the desire to acquire or try another bow since I got my Silvertip.  This is unique for me.
