Border for balls-out performance
Morrison for performance & stability.

Honestly, everything else comes second to those two.

Border builds the fastest bows going, but they evolve & change quickly. Bob Morrison has been building high performance bows for years & sticks with a formula he knows works for a long time.
I shoot Morrisons   ;)   I've yet to find a reason to shoot anything else, although I own others.

I know that you're a fan of Bob Lee's bows & as awesome as they are, most others will show a significant speed increase.
A lot of the bows previously mentioned are great, but until you've shoot a really fast bow, they've all much of a muchness.
I've got so used to Morrison bows, at my drawlength, that anything at all under 200fps seems sluggish & only Borders have matched up.

i've had build issues with bob lee in the past also though and quite frankly i'd be over the moon just to get a top performing bow that 1- is built to written instructions and 2- doesn't need a warranty claim within months. I currently own one border so i know what you mean robtattoo when you say that others fall by the wayside in terms of speed. Though the fastest and probably the most expensive limbs on the market aren't the easiest things to obtain made to order.

High performance is more than speed alone. It also means quietness. shootability, quality of build, actually a whole lot of things. Some bows excel in speed but lack in that they will shock the tar out of you, Others have one or two attributes but lack in others. Some have all the good attributes but fall into mediocrity speed wise. Few have it all.
My goal as a builder and I am sure that more than a few of the other builders have this goal is to build bows that actually exhibit all the qualitys and those are what I call great bows.

God bless, Steve

Not a sponsor here, but Pittsley's Predator is a high performance bow with a high performance reputation and it's a well built bow. I've owned two of them. The only reason I don't have one now is that I've become more fond of lighter mass weight, one-piece, hybrid longbows. They're very close to recurves in terms of performance too.

CH? you mean covert hunter? if so, i can't get limbs for my black douglas without hassles. so i'm not going to spend even more on something else from them.

I had great luck with Palmer bows.  They usually rank very high in performance tests.

If you can wait 2 years and I believe it's a testament for his bow. Chris Cox of Habu bows. Workmanship flawless and the best combination of performance and stability. I've owned many of the above listed bows and will shoot them for months at a time. I'll pull out my Vyperkahn and shoot it and it always impresses.

Since you ask for a take down, a 2 piece Javaman Assyrian would be my vote

I can't tell you how many times I've heard that exact same thing.  When you're pushing the envelope in terms of performance and technology, you better make sure you're dealing with someone who puts customer service on a level at least as high as performance.

Is 5 or 8 feet per second REALLY worth what you are going through?

I must say, I'm becoming pretty smitten with my 2014 Bear take-down A handle (two tone color scheme), with a set of #1 limbs. It makes a 56" bow that screams an arrow. The new limbs are fast flight string compatible.  Limbs and bow length are many based on A or B riser and old Bear limbs work too.  It's an extremely well behaved bow to boot.

For Performance, Bob Morrison hands down. And you can add shootability, quietness, looks and good customer service
As well. I have compared these bows with just about everything made here in the states and haven't found anything
To match them yet.
His bows allow me to shoot a much lighter poundage and get the same performance as a bow 6 to 8# heavier. Which is great for those of us, down to a quarter of a tank.

Get a Bigfoot SS and get over the Border. It has nothing on the SS except a lot of extra weight on the tips that is not getting used. I bet there is not 2 fps difference in the bows and you will get what you ordered from Kirk. That or a Morrison and you are good to go. I think Bob would have no problem giving you exactly what you order and will not pawn off a surplus set of limbs on ya.
The stats on his bow are right there too.

Sooooooooooooo are you serious or did you need to vent some? Can't blame you if that's it because no way should you pay that kind of money for a set of limbs and get that shoddy treatment/. Funny thing is I would bet that most everyone here knew what bow you were talking about before you identified it.

God bless, Steve

With your kind of taste Clint I would second the Morrison or Bigfoot recurve technologies.
