Bow Storage Rack question
« on: May 02, 2014, 08:43:00 PM »
Greetings

I completed a bow rack, very simple with hand tools only.  Well I used 3/8 inch dowels but hand drilled the holes.  So, they are, shall i say, less than perfect.

The issue is they are a bit off in alignment which allows the bow to rock slightly, less that 1/16", well maybe an 1/8th on one set of dowels.  The dowels or approximately 18 inches apart so largely the riser is supported by the pegs.

Is this going to cause some issue down the road with the bows, ie, limb twist, etc.

Trusting yalls opinion.  Thanks in advance for your help.

I doubt it very seriously. For years, my bows have sat in racks less than perfectly level. Bows are not really all that fragile.

If it bothers you, get some of the smaller pipe insulation and slip it over the dowels.  It is soft and cushiony enough to allow the bow to settle in and sit steady.
