Moose tag:)

After 19 years finally drew my WY moose tag. Any ideas/suggestions for arrow/setups let me know. Most likely going to use my 54# Pronghorn 3pc LB or 51# 3pc Yellowstone LB. I shot 29.5 axis 400 with 100 grain insert and 150 BH. Going to look into Grizzly/VPA both 2 and 3 blade for potential moose killing heads:) These ARE the bows I'm going to use whether you agree with the poundage or not.
Thanks and I'm pretty damn excited.

Congrats on the tag! That will surely be the hunt of a lifetime. What unit did you draw?
As for heads, my choice would probably be the Grizzly 2 blade. I love the new Instincts, but those moose are pretty darn big critters!

Yep the bow and arrow combo looks good. I would go with a 2 blade head to maximize the penetration.
Remember sometimes the most important hole is on the far side.

That's awesome James. I have been forth ages enough to be on some moose hunts. Just not enough to draw the tag. From what I have seen. You got what it takes in that setup.
Look at Magnus stinger heads too. I have three moose fall to them.

55# Bill Stewart T/D longbow and 70-75 cedars with Magnus I two blades worked for me ... complete pass through and the moose went about 100 yards .... your set up sounds fine
Good luck and be safe

These guys were around last summer. They should be pretty decent this year. Congrats on the tag.

Wow congrats on the 38 tag Cecil. That tag is getting harder and harder to draw.

Vernon, a two blade single bevel will help cure your sharpening challenge, especially using the KME. Also, Grizzly, Abowyer, Tusker.... any of the big size two blade. Best of luck on your hunt.

On my bull, I used a 58# Pronghorn Ferret, 145 gr Journeyman 2 blade, 535 gr total arrow weight. Heart shot, and the broadhead broke the off front leg.
On my calf I shot this past fall, I used a 56# bow, Woodsman Elite 3 blade, total arrow weight low 500's, and got a total passthrough.

Thanks
I feel very fortunate to have drawn my second moose tag. 24 years ago I had one. I shot it with a Heritage Archery Bridger Mountain longbow pulling amost 60#. I used a Coyowood shaft with a 160 grain Grizzly head. The arrow weighed 700 grains. I'm not sure what kind of hard wood they were made of, they were heavy and also tapered. I hit him right above the heart, cutting the aorta. He went down quickly.
