59 Vintage Works recurve rest
«

Has anyone swapped out the feather rest that comes standard with the bow? I'm not sure a feather rest will hold up in Ontario's late season of freezing rain, sleet and snow.
Thanks, Frank

I haven't but there's no reason you couldn't use about any rest. The shelf is slightly radiused.I have Bear rug rests on my other bows but kept the feather rest on the '59 VW,for the look but also like how it looks.I don't hunt in wet weather a lot but did use it Sask. during a rainy week,a couple years ago and it did OK.I realize that's a pretty short test and for the life of me,I can't remember if I treated it with waterproofing.

I have been shooting some of the Traps feather rests for about 5 years now... they are really nice and really durable. however, there one achilles heel is wet weather. At least for me if they have been. A mink rugrest seems to do best in wet weather. Thats on a Holcomb 59'.
