My String Stretching Jig!

I just wanted to share a few pics of a String Stretcher/string set up jig I just completed this week with some who might like to Tinker in their shops..Enjoy! Keefers <")))><

Super strut "L" Bracket 3"x4" $ 2.82
1/2"x 4"eye bolt w/nut        $ 1.56
Channel cone strut nuts 5 pc. $ 4.36
Trailer Winch with strap      $32.00
72"swanson straight edge rule $10.98
1"x2"x6' select pine          $ 3.72
other hardware like bolts etc.$15.00
Total about $90.17 but if you had to buy the Hanson scale they can cost quite a bit depending where you buy it...Mine was given to me by a friend
 I will post some pics of a build along but maybe on the "How To" forum if people respond they really  want one...

 Give yourself a pat on the back cause when I saw yours in your video about a year ago I have been burning my brains out on building one like yours buddy...See you inspired me with your tie on nock video and the idea started there...Thank you Ryan you have helped "Many" here..

This was a 1-5/8" x 10' length of Unistrut 12 gauge but I cut it down to 8'
   

 Here is the 1/4" L" bracket that is 3"x4" with a 1/2" hole drilled for the Eye bolt
   
 Next pic is the channel coned strut nuts that will glide in the curved section of the strut and except the bolts from above the "L" Bracket
notice one has snapped from cranking too hard on the rachet

That's nice, very nice. Mine is not as fancy, we'll say trampoline spring and rope is the way I roll.   :D

Ryan's video helped me to get started making strings. You fellows are awesome.

In this picture there is a 2"x3"x10" board that the Hanson scale has velcro under it just to keep it balanced on the 2"x3" but really the scale is held tight to the "EYE" bolt. The leather wrap is to keep the board on the rail and the board also has a 3/4" piece of oak 10" long glued under the 2x3x10 so it sits inside the rail.
   
You can see that 3/4" piece glued under in this pic.
   
 The flouresent orange needle is just to show where the string loop starts as I crank on the winch and if I want to measure the string etc.
 I also have a 1"x2"x6' piece of pine screwed under the Swanson Straight Edge and it can be removed easy just by lifting it out and the needle swings from left to right out of the way so the scale can slide as I crank the winch handle.

Forgot to mention the paint I used is called "Por 15" and is used on engine blocks and places where it covers rust from what a friend told me...It sets up really hard that you cann't peel it with a fingernail in about 6 hours of drying time..
It really didn't need anything done to the rail but I just wanted to "TINKER" as I was building it.

Basically the same design as the one I have. The only difference is the main beam on mine is made using two different sizes of steel box beam. That way when not in use I can slide them together to take up less room in the corner.

I made one similar and used a compression spring. 1/2 inch of compression equals 300 lbs. I stretch my to 300lbs and let it set awhile.
