On this day, I headed straight for the area that I assumed the goats would be in. After only a hour in, I was stalking a few feeding goats. I got to about twenty yards, but unfortunately the wind switched and off the goats went.
Taking a break, I had a snack and traveled on. After crossing a ridge, I heard a billy chasing a nanny in the dry river bed. I got to my knees and picked up my binos. A minute after spotting the billy, he turned and started to climb the hill towards me. I readied my bow but due to a blind spot I didn't know if he would pop up below or above me. Suddenly at 10 yards he popped his head around a tree trunk. With no shot, I just sat there and hung tight. Unfortunately, he had an uneasy feeling, turned around and walked the other way.
After a couple mins, I decided to head in his directions hoping that the nannies were still in that area. Sure enough, The nannies were in the grass feeding. I slowly crawled my way towards them. At 15 yards, I picked out a single nanny, drew and loosed my arrow. The arrow struck home and off the nanny went.
My "lucky bow" had harvested meat for me on that day but the luck was not over...
