I don't think the epoxy job was correct on that original one that pulled out. I epoxy the grips on my full tang knives and I guarantee you could not chop one off with a hammer and chisel.
Even if the hole was oversize, the epoxy I use is so much stronger than the wood, it could not come out without ripping chunks of wood out with it.
If you file some cross scratches in the outside of the inserts, clean the wood and inserts THOROUGHLY and use a good 24-hour epoxy, they will definitely not come out, I don't care how much strain is on them from the quiver, or how much vibration there is in the riser.
