few questions about footed arrows
« on: May 31, 2014, 09:13:00 AM »
I want to make a dozen footed arrows but first I need to know who has the best footed arrows to order from..

2nd performance,,,,,,, because of the footing wood up front will the spine my bow is used to change?  if I'm currently shooting snags 45/50's 28" long should I order the footed arrows exactly the same,,,, or do you go a 1/2 or 1" longer or shorter to make up for denser wood up front.

The effects are minimal. I make mine the same spine and length as my I footed shafts.

Give Ted at Raptor Archery a call, he had a good selection of footed shafts when I was last in there about a month ago.

You can call Terry art the Footed Shaft.  Regardless, footing won't change the spine requirement enough to matter.  Depending on the shaft diameter and footing material, a foot will add about 25-30 grains (about 1-1 1/2% FOC) to the front of a POC arrow. A particularly long footing will increase the weight and spine of the arrow a bit.

you could call Bob Burton at whispering winds   I've had the chance to talk to most of the foot guys over the years, all of them are good!
