Nine or ten days ago Jim Neaves of Centaur Archery had a listing in the Sponsors Classifieds. He had two bows in stock, ready to finish. No grips or shelves yet. One was a 62" Chimera that was going to come out in the low 50's.
I immediately contacted Jim, got him some funds, and we chatted on Tuesday (just six days ago!)regarding the particulars. This would be my first Centaur, and Jim and I worked out the particulars of the grip.
Jim had the bow in the mail by Thursday and the she actually made it to my local post office by Saturday, but too late to pick up, though I got someone on the phone at the PO and tried to bribe and extort for an after hours pickup!
Well, she came today, and she's awesome! Centaur Chimera with XTL, 62" 51@28. Cocobolo riser, coffee/onyx limb veneer on the belly, carbon on the back. Jim stippled the grip and added a nice thumb rest.
Got her out tonight and spent some time getting her dialed in. WOW! What a pleasure to shoot. We've all heard how fast, smooth and sweet Centaurs are, and it's true!
I'm drawing her 28" and thought I'd try my GT 3555's with 225 up front, for a 525 grain arrow. Yup, she likes 'em. A lot.
I took some pics this evening, but the sun was very low, so please excuse the picture quality. Just wanted to be able to share with the Gang, knowing I'd be chastised if I didn't include pics!
