Bear Grizzly manufacture date
« on: June 05, 2014, 02:47:00 PM »
Hey Gang,

Just picked up a Bear Grizzly.
56" AMO 50#

"light/medium brown" wood with green glass.
Silvery looking coin.
Grayling manu.

Serial# KR28832

Has what looks like white glass tip lams.

I'm thinking it's a 71-72.

Can any of you help me pinpoint it?

Also, I'd like to know what the woods are if possible.

and...does the white on the tips make this FF string ok?
...they look a little thin..thinking b-55 regardless...

Thanks for the help!

They're not FF rated, but there was no such thing as FF back thing yet most older bows had tip overlays. Personally, I wouldn't since the minimal gain in speed isn't worth it. Get a quality b-50 or b-55 and you'll be just fine. I'm not sure of the year, but the serial number makes it seem like early 70's. The woods....need a pic unless someone with more knowledge knows what bear used for the Grizzly.

56" long......I'm thinking pre 70'........ could be wrong.

The 56" Grizzlies were 1968-70. The 68 serial# would start with an 8, the 69 a 9 and the 70 K.

It seems ok so far.
I'm waiting for a new string at the moment.
The string that was on it looked like a cable...haven't counted the strands but it was only a little smaller than a pencil...looked like a crossbow string.

also..it was about 1.5" long.
