James attitude always makes me proud to call him a friend.  He has dealt with, and continues to deal with, a variety of health problems, but what keeps him rolling along with a joke in his heart, is you!

His mad bow building skills are an extension of his devotion to archery and to his clients, because he gets connected to each one of us.  His sharp wit, and sense of humor make my day every time I talk with him.  He takes life's challenges as opportunities to rise above, and prove to himself and to us that nothing can deter him from his life's work of making us happy and proud to shoot his bows.

If anyone has any doubts that this man can't build his usual top quality bow one-eyed.....think again.  He's already done it....for years, and has the equipment that he specially designed to build bows under these conditions when he had a cataract a few years back that put him in essentially the same situation (well,'cept this time he's gonna have a cool Possum skin eye patch with Eye.B.O. Winner embroidered on it, and sporting Dingle Balls).

Of all the things I could call JD from outstanding bowyer to amazingly skilled artisan, darn good archer, "friend" is the one that I cherish the most.

Prayers for you my friend as always.

James,
An eye patch on an old Navy guy is nearly like jewelry. Don't go as far as getting a peg leg, though; might slow you down even more.
Thanks for being an inspiration to all of us, and I don't say that to many old squids.

Centaur, if we had a "like" button I'd be hitting it for your words.

Mr. Berry by his attitude is showing us all how we can chose to face adversity.

I am still hoping to hear that James will have a complete recovery.
Yesterday, I was out back shooting my new deer target with my Morningstar.  An older gentleman with a new Honda scooter rolls up and wants to see me shoot one. From about 20 yards, I put the arrow in the top of the little heart circle. He says,"Is that where you want to hit the real thing? Lets see another one."  Splat, a piece with half a nock and one feather flips up and landed on top of my garage, another chunk with two feathers hit the deer target's back legs, leaving the arrow dangling in the target. The old guy looks up at the roof, walked up to the target, picked up the two feathered piece, pointed at the piece in the target and said, "You missed the heart."

Nice to hear from you James.  I am trying to decide between a Morning Star or Taipan.

James combines artistry and functionality  -- a bowyer at the pinnacle of his profession.
