True South Hunt Along! (Stories completed!)
« on: July 19, 2014, 12:30:00 PM »
I am lucky enough to be heading south to see my good friend Jim Dussias (tarponnut) at his hog ranch on July 28th. I am more than excited to have this oppertunity, and thought you guys might want to go with me. I know this time of year you guys are probably like me, and painfully counting down the days until deer season. Maybe you can immerse yourself, and forget that we have like 2 months to go.

My goal in this endevour is three-fold:

1. To share my adventure with the TG family, maybe someone might enjoy my endevour.

2. Shed light on what a hunt with True South Adventures is like, and to show what a great hunting operation looks like.

3. Make somebody laugh, i garauntee there will be many misteps next week   :bigsmyl:    Hopefully Jim will chime in as well and shed light on what its like to guide two idiots from NC.

Hope you enjoy! (I know i will)    :campfire:      :archer:

First off, i will show you my equipment. For this trip i am shooting a 56" #50 Omega Delta Shortbow. This is a new model my friend Kegan McCabe, (bowyer/owner at OL) is coming out with, and will be available in September. I recieved this bow a couple of weeks ago, and have quickly found that this bow fits me really well.

As another idiot from NC, good luck!!  I will follow this thread closely.  I want to hunt hogs bad, and you hit the nail on the head about painfully counting the days until deer season.  Thanks for taking us all along.

Dalton, we have been seeing plenty of deer but our focus is on elk hunting.  Arrows are done, pack is ready, running and counting the days.

So it was raining today, and as a stone mason that means a day off. To a redneck headed to stick pigs, that means a shoot your butt off day. Slung about 500 arras, feeling really good    :D

Maybe i can do this on a couple of porkers next week.

PS-My target has been dubbed "goo-bear." Its half deer and half bear, i wear out targets way to quick to buy nice ones, so i settle for the local clubs throw-outs. lol.

Every one of those hits would get it done on a pig!
Don't forget to practice your 5-8 yard shots:)

Do you guys plan on filming? I can hang a couple of tree pods tomorrow if so.

Here are a couple pics of the stand Irv was referring to:

The stand is in the oak in the center, feeder is to the left.
