I have to share a secret I have discovered. This year while attending the Iowa Traditional Bowhunter's Society shoot, I had the opportunity to meet and speak with Scott Rentschler, owner of Best Friend Longbows. I discovered each year Scott donates a bow for raffle to the ITBS, which I felt was pretty impressive! One of his bows, the Bloodbrother, was a light R/D longbow that braces into a D shape. I had never had the opportunity to try one out and have always like the way they look, so I asked if I could give one a test run. Scott was more than happy to string one up and I headed out to the practice range. After a full hour of shooting....I was hooked. The bow was 62" and 48# @ 28" and shot like a dream. I thanked him for the opportunity but eventually found myself back there asking to shoot yet again. Scott obliged me and after shooting another hour, I knew I had to have one of my own.
I returned home from the shoot, promptly sold one of my bows, and then ordered some bocote veneers and a unique cocobolo block from Big Jim and had them sent to Scott so he could transform them into a Bloodbrother longbow! 8 weeks later, yesterday, I picked up my bow and WOW! I absolutely love this bow. It fits me like a glove and should, because I went to Scott's shop in Volga when he was ready to shape the handle and he sanded it as I kept trying it out until we got a perfect fit. The lines in this bow are exceptional, super smooth finish and just a dream bow, at half the price of most other bows I have purchased. Scott was incredibly patient and did everything he could to make sure I was 100% satisfied! I could not be happier with this bow and Scott's service, top notch for sure. I wish I would have met him sooner. This is the quietest bow I have ever shot and very dead in the hand. It is 48# @ 28", 62" and shoots my 612 grain Vaporwood with authority! Hope you enjoy the photos, and sorry for the long post but this bow has really impressed me.
