Wild Things "Hog Wild" Hunt #2/Revenge Hunt
« on: August 06, 2014, 10:55:00 AM »
I've been getting quite a few inquiries into a "Revenge Hunt" so to speak - aka - Wild Things Hog Hunt - Year 2 at Andrew's wonderful facility place in Estill, SC.

To be quite honest with you, I have had too much on my plate this year to give it too much thought, but a couple of last years participants have suggested that the event be moved to a late Winter time frame (February or March).

I'm looking from input from alumni Wild Things participants as well as anyone else who may be interested.  Last year was a full house event!

I look forward to your comments!!

If I can schedule it around some work commitments, I'm in. Last year was fun.

I can't do March but if you go in Feb. I would be interested in joining you fellows. I hunted there when Ray H. was running it.

As long as we don't conflict with Kalamazoo, Feb looks pretty good for me.

I have my deposit in with Andrew. I have yet to select dates. Been eyeing the first or second set of dates myself. I know it'll be hot, but I want to see some hogs and get a shot at one. I figured hunting early might be the ticket. I may regret hunting when so warm. I hate warm weather.

Yep,  Bud, I have a deposit in as well, but it will carry over to next year, if needed.  Also bought one of the St. Jude's Wild Things gift certificates.   Looking forward to getting back down South!

I realized today that I hadn't updated the schedule with the deposits received in a while. The    SCHEDULE  is now up to date and accurate.

Bud, that first week could be really good. No hunters since April and not even a lot of logging going on. Also sightings were way up for the last 3 sets of hunters to go through last spring.

I'm still focused on Feb since it's a good time for work and a really good time to leave Michigan!

Yeah. First set good for all the lack of hunting. The next set good for follow-up on all the first week sightings. It's good to have these problems  ;)

I am very anxious to hear the stories from the upcoming season at Wild Things. Andrew's plans were delayed last year due to bad weather. The feeders, food plots, and stand sites seemed to finally be paying off by the time we got there in mid March. As you may recall, our tribe of 8 buds saw 374 hogs in five days!

The hunting should be fantastic after a year of his aggressive program to attract and hold game. I bet this entire season will be very productive, regardless of when you go.

Good luck to all youze guys! (that's how we say it in SW PA)  :)

Guys,

If you are a follower of the Solar/Lunar tables (I admit it, I am) for game movement, the original weekend of 12.04-12.07 is great and is currently available.

Let me know how this looks on everyone's schedule and we can make a decision before it books up.

Thanks!

As long as the dilla's are moving I'm in. February/March would work better for me. November and December are no good for me (busy season)

Todd,

Armadillo season is always in for you    :biglaugh:   !

Unfortunately, the "prime" dates for Feb and March are already fully or partially booked.  The first weekend in April looks fantastic though, but Andrew is not hunting the property that weekend to give it a break.

Sorry, guys, but may have waited too late this year to get a good Feb or March date.  Again, I'm open to suggestions!

I would opt for the Feb 3-8 slot, but I can be good for December too.

Just sent Mary Beth an email to confirm my request for the first set of dates. Sorry guys, I got a hog itch that needs to get scratched. I want to get back into those woods.

If retirement bodes well, maybe I can make another hunt before his season closes.

December interests me quite a bit.  That's the month I'll have Faith.

Early December works for me if that's what works for everyone else.
