First Trad Bull
« on: September 25, 2007, 12:15:00 AM »
Just returned from a 7 day hunt in the Cascades of Washington with my Dad, brother and brother in law.    Since this was my 5th year hunting the same area, I had a good idea of what the elk where up to. Ended up shooting this bull at 15 yards on day 2, and my brother shot his first bull with a wheelie bow on day 3. Both of us had to chase these guys down as the elk in this area are quite call shy due to the proximity of a nearby horse trail and hunters associated with it. My bull went 50 yards, and my brother's only 10 yards before piling up. A great trip overall.

Congrats Spence!!! Its great that you get to share a hunt like that with your brother!!!!
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Congratulations to you and your brother! Both of you should be very proud of your accomplishments.
It looks like the rack being packed out is from your brother's bull? Differs from the one in your picture. I too would love to see more pictures if you would e-mail or PM them. Man, I would love to try elk hunting someday, but don't think these old legs would stand up to the terrain.

Well done! Nice to see a feller's hard work pay off for him. Maybe someday I'll be able to hunt those critters again. They sure do live in purdy country.
