I will be leaving for Montanna for my first elk hunt Sept 9th.
My brother and his son and I are going to be near livingston looking for less than smart elk. I know they can be hard to find, but I have been successful many times throughout the years finding that one unlucky, mildly retarded animal for my wall/freezer.

We are going in green as I have the only hands on experience of our group in this type of hunting...just never elk.

Going to be there for 4 days alone as I wait for them to arrive. Maybe I'll get in some sleep! seems to have worked for me before.

I will be hunting Elk with an outfitter and horses in Wyoming near Jackson Hole on Sept. 14. Can't wait. Did one DIY in CO for Elk but never have killed one. Hoping this is the time...

Elk and mule deer hunt in Idaho in a few weeks.  Then about three weeks for whitetails in northwest Wisconsin in November.

It will be the local antelope, deer, & elk.

However, I decided to get back into the lion hunting and we (Lenny and myself) picked up some redbone puppies early last spring; we will be spending a lot of time training/running them on Lions.

Jeff which unit did Brett draw?
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Jim, last year was my first elk hunt and I used the philosophy to explore the country soaking in my surroundings, taking pictures and scouting. Everything else seems to fall into place naturally, for me anyway.

We have been in camp in SW Colorado since July 2nd. Looking forward to our 50th year in succession to hunt these beautiful Rocky Mountains! Elk are number one on the list!

Heading out Friday for a black bear hunt in Ontario with my son....  he only gets to watch as he is not old enough to hunt in Ontario.  Hope to bag my first trad bear!

Just elk and deer here at home.  But, plan to spend more time hunting this september.  Seems like something always comes along to cut things short.  Just not going to let it happen this year!

I drew a Brooks Range moose tag so I will be headed up in September to chase moose and caribou along the haul road.  Should be quite an adventure.  I will probably be one of the few people up there shooting traditional.

I'll be after moose this fall along with small game and with my boys in tow. Should be fun as we've been away for several years and couldn't do much hunting. Hard to believe that it's only two weeks away.

I'm hunting locally for mule deer and elk. I put up base camp yesterday to start my adventure here in my own back yard. Did draw a Greater Sage grouse tag and hopefully my first fall turkey hunt. Only a few hours until my adventures start for the fall!

Walt,

Brett drew 323, that's south of Emigrant/north of Gardiner.    Some pretty country but very Griz/wolf infested.   We bumped a huge boar scouting two weeks ago.   No blood on either side thank goodness.

Congrats on the grouse tag. I've always had the itch to shoot the ones I saw while hunting goat s and deer. Keep us posted on that, I'd love to see pics.
