Squirrel stuff
« on: August 18, 2014, 08:50:00 PM »
A couple squirrel related things to share, (since I'm overseas -not military- and missing my squirrel hunting):

I was recently in Thailand and saw a Thai Giant Black Squirrel. Holy Moly! It was a good yard long with tail! Apparently they can weigh up to 6lbs. It was on the ground then bolted for a tree and there was an enormous leaf nest up there.

Here's a neat video. Reminded me of my squirrel woods back east I spent countless hours in growing up. There was a redtail I shared those woods with who was also a very effective squirrel hunter.

Nothing more surprising than a redtail tumbling down through the tree limbs after a frantic squirrel! Great video, its a great primer for the upcoming squirrel season. A reminder that they live it everyday, its what makes them so challenging to hunt.

WOW!  Beautiful video--I was cheering for the squirrel!   :clapper:

Yeah, I always have mixed, or competing, feelings about seeing predation up close and personal too. Nothing wrong with that; it's a big part of being human, I think. I appreciate the fact that my young son could snuggle the classroom bunny and then come home and gnarf down a cottontail leg.

Not trying to hijack, but, does anyone know where to order one of those metal squirrel whistles ?  They look like a circle with a hole in it you blow into.
