A place for a quick hunt.
« on: August 27, 2014, 06:56:00 PM »
I decided to get out this morning for an hour or so and let some arrows fly. I checked out a place I like close to the house. I noticed a lot of Deer sign in a section of woods below a big boulder slide.

Turns out there are some acorns falling already, and there are a bunch of tulip trees as well. The deer really seem to love the flowers that fall from the trees.
So, I go and check it out, blasting a few stumps with a hammer head along the way. I came across a cool spot where the deer are traversing the hill side. There is a nice ambush spot above the deer trail that could provide a nice 15 yard shot.

I did a little work to fix it up and gave it try shooting some random targets (leaves etc.) where the deer should be passing by.

Looks like a great place to sit and watch nature.  How is the wind at that spot ?

I can get into this spot from my car in about 10 minutes easy. It will be a nice place to drop in early season when I only have a couple hours to kill. No pun intended.

Chuck, the wind will be coming right up the hill from the deer trail to me. Perfect!

My quick spot is 150 yd. in back of my house . There is just something that makes me want to get a deer on my land . I have a short leader stand over looking a scrub Apple on the edge of an
old beaver dame .It is a travel lane for deer moving
from a large swamp to main feeding across a rood .
I will put some time into harvesting a deer from that stand this year .

May life's simplest things bring you the greatest pleasures !!!!

Looks like a nice spot to sit.

Charlie, the deer will be below me, and I will be between the rocks. I could probably wear any color in this spot and still pull off a shot.

I'm from pa and I have also seen some akerns Falling. That's for sharing your pics with us. Most places I hunt is within 10-20 min. I'm blessed with about 6 or 7 public hunting areas within that distance.
