Arrow holders

Do you guys use one while hunting on stand? If so, do the stick on kind work well?

I usually hang my bow from a limb or hanger on stand but was shooting a Whisker Biscuit on a wheel bow until this year. I worry about the arrow falling off shelf if I bump my bow or when reaching to grab it for a shot.  :eek:

I've used the Kwik-loc from Saunders since the early 70's

I use a stay jac.  I either affix the mounting bracket to the riser by slipping it under my leather longbow grips, placing  it on the outisde of the grip and putting a piece of leather over it, or, when I need to mount it vertically from above the gripdue to the shape of the handle, putting a piece of double backed tape on it and pressing it to the bow riser.

Kwik-loc works really well. On most bows I've had to trim the adhesive area to fit the contour of the bow. They work well and are about as traditonal as anything else we use, been around a long time! CKruse

I use the kwik lok as well.  I like to hang my bow for a while and hang on to it during prime time.  Set it on my toe and hold the tip.  No worry about the arrow falling off at any time.....priceless

Has anyone used the "Aro-Lock" that 3 Rivers lists on the same page as the Kwik Lok?  I've used the Saunders for a long time, but these are half the cost and slimmer in design.  I know... "if it ain't broke"... but thought these could be the "better mousetrap"!

Match stick works well and you don't need to glue anything on...plus you might even find them in traditional cedar     Doc

The real question I have is doesn't the rubber band and match stick fall when they unhook as you draw?  Seems like you would need to carry a few with you if they do.

Yep, they do fall away if you don't have time to take it off and stick it in a pocket.  But hey, I can afford a new one everytime a deer walks by if I need to

Hint... one year I was using the StaJac arrow holder (could have happened with the Saunders as well).
A nice buck approached my stand and I prepared to shoot. I considered flexing the bow to pull the StaJac off the arrow, but decided to leave it on and let it come off when I took the shot.

When I started my draw the StaJac "kept" the arrow and I felt the nock pull from between my fingers.

The following juggling act should have been quite comical to the buck had he stayed around to watch.    

Since then I always flex the bow and clear the arrow holder "before" the shot.

Charlie:  Luckily, I've never had that happen while drawing on an animal, but I have had them want to not leave go of the arrow at times.  For that reason, some time ago I too developed the habit of flexing the bow to release it whenever I think I might get a shot.

I've never had any trouble with the Kwik-Lok but that isn't to say it can't happen. On the recurve I'm currently shooting I have one on it made by Bohning.  It's OK, but I still prefer the Kwik-Lok.

I jusst bought the aro lock from 3 rivers and it will hold the arrow.  However, it is a little to tight.  I have to pinch the arrow and pull back,  If I just draw then the arrow stays in place and pulls off the string.  Also when I pull the aro lock off I have to put a bow hand finger on it to keep it from flipping back up and knocking against the arrow making a noise.  However, having said that, it works well I just have to remember its peculiarities.  It beats dropping an arrow on the ground.

I have also noticed the holder too tight for my arrows since they are probably being made for those skinny carbons.  If it's too tight, take a sharp knife and do some trimming so it's just snug enough to hold.

I gotta try that match/rubber band idea. Looks simple enough.

Guys I can't get the tooth pick/ match stick arrow holder to release. What am I doing wrong this seems like it should be fool proof.
