Carhartt makes the carpenter pants in a nice thick cotton twill I have them in kahki and green quiet, tough, and comfortable
All we have to decide is what to do with the time given to us.

Found a pair of the rip-stop wranglers - thanks for that suggestion!

Why not camo?  Simply, in the area I live and work, it's easier to squeeze in a little time hunting before / after work and get changed at work.  Knowing that not everyone I work with is tolerant of such activities, I avoid conflict by just wearing "regular" clothing.  It seems like I'm just hiking the trails...  Not a perfect system by any stretch, but anything I can do to avoid stress while getting more time in the woods is a good plan for me!

OK, sad you have to go through all that. The millitary BDU's are just so comfortable, and good storage pockets, I like them. I like pants that are quiet though, and sometimes they are a bit noisy.

I was in a TSC today and they have a line of green and dark tan cargo pants in a lighter cotton for $12.99. Didn't note the brand. Might be good for hot weather.

BDU's come in solid colors too. Usually sold for EMT's and police.

The First Lite Kenab's are great pants. A bit pricey but quality in construction and not over weight. You can wear them just about all season. No layers in the early season and layers underneath them when it gets cold. Can't beat Merino Wool.

shop goodwill or a similar good sized thrift store. You can usually find wool pants for a couple of bucks, same for wool sweaters.

I've been meaning to check out the Goodwill stores outside of this area.  Living in the city, the Goodwill stores tend to collect and disperse different types of clothing than what you may find in a more rural area.

I use a pair of olive green BDU's. Got them from a military surplus outfit. Excellent quality and I wear them well into November. Love cargo pockets for those exploratory hunts where I travel light. Stuff the pockets and go

You can always try looking thru Sportsman's Guide.  They deal a lot in military surplus stuff.  Usually lots of lighter weight dress (mainly wool blends) pants are available, but maybe not as much in XXL sizing.

Northern tool canvas...think they are labeled as Granite Gear or something to that effect...a 12oz heavy cotton very simi1ar to Carhartt at about 2/3's the cost. I work and play in them.
