Wisconsins Bow opener was Saturday
« on: September 16, 2014, 08:44:00 AM »
Well, up where I hunt in Presque Isle, WI, we are once again "Bucks only"
On Saturday, by 8:30 I had 11 does walk by and by 11, it was 17 does not including fawns. Afternoon hunt, 1PM to 6:30, it was about the same, maybe a little less.
Sunday morning I had to be off the stand by 10AM and had seen 9 does plus fawns.
I had lots of fun with my dad, who no longer hunts, but comes with me to share a cabin and hear my tales and see my pics from the stand.

My trail camera had been up since May and 1776 pics of does, coyote, fox, and a couple of wolves were on it.
It's typical that I do not see "any" bucks until around Halloween, then anything can show up.....

Wow, I saw one doe in my late afternoon sit in the marsh.  That is not uncommon (I hunt Columbia county public land, just north of Madison).  I thought you guys didn't have any does left up there ?

How bout a peak at those wolf pics. That would be awesome. Sounds like they aren't focusing on deer.

I would think all of those does constitute "bait" (at least come Nov.) Isn't it illegal to bait up-north??  ;)   Sounds like it was a great opener for you, bro. !!

I saw 3 does Monday evening, it was tempting, but I passed them up, a little early to take a doe, going to wait awhile and see if the thirty pointer shows up.

I guess deer activity is good.  It seems as if the wolves had subscribed to the Horn Porn Frenzy as well. Not sure which wolves I am referring to though   :readit:    :dunno:
