Man I love this time of year! Last Saturday was our opener and I was fortunate to harvest an awesome deer!

I recently purchased a Bear Take down B Riser, with a set of # 2 limbs that Brandon Stahl made me over at Rose Oak Creations. Bow is super smooth and quiet. And it is a tack driver!

Saturday it was starting to cool off here a bit and it was a perfect wind to hunt a new stand I put up back in July. I did not put out any cameras this year so I was not sure what was around. Little did I know I had a BIG surprise coming!

I hung this stand in a giant cedar tree. Every cedar I have ever hunted out of ended up being a great spot. They are just hard to come by. Its hard to find one that is in the right spot and has the ability to hold a lock on stand. Also I think the aroma from a cedar tree does a lot to cover your scent. This one will also provide plenty of cover once the leaves are off the trees.

Well about 7 o'clock, something i caught some movement coming down the trail. It was a deer..... then another.....then another.... then another.... and one more. I could tell that they were all bucks! All were walking in a single file line headed right for me!

I could not believe what I was seeing. 5 bucks 3 were 8 pointers. The last one was the biggest. He came in and turned perfectly broadside. I drew back and the arrow went exactly where I was looking. I knew it was a good hit. I saw the buck run about 100 yards and stop. The next thing I know he twitched his tail a few times and fell over. I was so shook up over what had just happened it took me about 45 minutes before I could climb down.
