This morning the air was cool and the sky clear and the Hoosier sunrise just as beautiful as always.  There I stood outside bow in hand.  As I drew back my Super Kodiak everything just seemed perfect.  I released the arrow and just watched the perfect flight of my arrow.  Every shot this morning was right where I was looking.  Only 9 days till us Hoosiers are once again in the woods with bow in hand.  Enjoying God's beauty.   Good luck boys!

Deeter, do you ever hunt Mississineaw? I lost my private land in Bunker Hill due to the farmer selling his land.

Went to Trip-state college in Angola, would walk in the woods and enjoyed it, however was frustrated, being out of state student and they frowned on bows or guns in the dorms, so could not hunt. Remember the beautiful woods however. Hope you all have a memorable season...

Matnjo I sent you a message.  You must be from the Miami county area?

Spent Saturday and Sunday at my camper at Lake Monroe.  Beautiful mornings watching the sun rise over the creek bottom field from our "breakfast nook".  One of my favorite things is to drink coffee sitting there and watch the woods wake up.  Knowing that deer season is right around the corner sure did help.  I found some awesome sign, a few rubs and acorns galore so the deer will at least be well fed.  It might be hard to pattern them though with all the food around.  I did manage to gather some squirrel meat with the .22.

I live in Indy but hunt all over.  I am hosting the 8th annual Southern Indiana Bowhunt in Jackson county if anyone is interested in coming.

Here's my setup for the year.  Although I'm not sure about using the coyote quiver on public land  :)   I might have to wear some don't-shoot-me-orange when I'm walking around.

I'm near Winamac (Pulaski county). I don't have anyplace to hunt here except the WMA and my 4 acre yard.

When I can, I make a trip south of Bloomington to the National forest (near Monroe) but I don't often get the chance.

I'm in Pulaski county as well but hunt Jasper county mostly.  Mike you are actually very fortunate to have Winamac FWA in your back yard.  Plenty of deer there and some very nice bucks as well.

Granted it does take a bit to learn the ins and outs of hunting our public lands in the north.  If you can hunt during the week, I'd just as soon hunt there as I would private land.
Take care,
Jason

I'm planning to hunt IN for the first time this year.  Trying to decide between Kingsbury, Willow Slough and Fairbanks Landing WMA's.  Any advice on which one to choose?

I'd call the Greene-Sullivan State forest office and ask about harvests at Fairbanks. The first year they opened, folks were hauling deer out of there in hatchbacks and tied on top of sedans. LOTS of city folk came down   :(  I haven't heard any reports in a couple years from the WMA itself.
