I've been on a grouse trip to the UP Chuck. You guys that kill deer up there rock. That place is a flat, thick, massive jungle.

Stack - where at in Howell?  We are rather close.  My father will be spending the first three days with me in Fowlerville at my place before heading to Florida for the year.  Me, I will be out back behind the house all season - every chance I get!

Some places are fairly thick, for sure, and they often get a bit wet.  But,  deer are deer.  Find the places that they go and you can get em.  That said, I have been hunting this little piece (my property) the last two years and I have not yet dropped the string.  Let a number walk, from as close as maybe 10 yards, but I don't need the meat (freezer already has a Wisconsin doe in it) so I sit there for fun and enjoyment.

I'll tell you, I never have had the opportunity to walk out of a cabin at 7:30 am, walk 200 yards or less to a treestand that is already in place, hunt for a few hours and walk back, until I started hunting my place.  I kinda really like it.

Wohooo can't wait for Wednesday!!!  I will be on state land all over from Houghton lake to Gaylord to Cadillac. Will be sitting with my kids every chance they get and hunting as often as I can myself as well thru October. Then Missouri for the first week of Nov. Then sitting with my son for the gun opener and the next day I'm off to Ohio for a 10 day solo hunt on national forest land. Then back for thanksgiving dinner. Then over Christmas break kids, wife and I are spending a week camping and running a trap line and possibly filling any left over tags north of Gaylord. Then 2nd week of January back to Ohio or Missouri to fill any of those left over tags if my schedule allows. And the season will end with a pig hunt in march in Florida or Tennessee.
Gonna be a very busy season!!!!!  Wednesday starts it all and can't get here fast enough!

Everyone be safe out there and remember to wear your  harness! Good luck to all!
