Calling all Kanati and Dwyer Endeavor fans
« on: October 01, 2014, 02:14:00 PM »
Hey guys, I hear good stuff about these longbows. Do any of you have experience with both? I am curious how they compare? They seem very similar. The Kanati really reminds me of a short whip.

Also on the Endeavor, what do you guys think of the handle. I generally like a locator grip but prefer one with more of an intricate locator kind of like the javaman handles. I am a little unsure of how rectangle looking the grip is when viewed from the front. But if it's comfortable, its comfortable.

Anybody know what these bows measure when strung? It looks like they stay pretty much the same length.

Can't comment on the Dwyer. Kanati on the other hand, I love. Have had several, Jason made me a couple and stupidly I sold them. Will definitely get another when I can. Great bows.

I've got two of Jason's bows right now and have owned two others. I love the grip he makes. It fits my hand perfect.

I held a Endeavor a couple of winters ago at the Waterloo Trad Expo. Very well made bow that was talked highly of by everyone that shot it.

The Endeavor had some amazing tips on it.

My 60" Kanati is 58 1/4" tip to tip when strung.

No but I have large hands. The bow I had Jason make for me I had him make the palm swell a 1/2" longer.

I'm sure they would make either grip to your liking on a new order. Both of the bows I have of Jason's right now have standard grips and fit me fine.

I've had a couple Kanatis and really like them. They are quite a bit different than a Whip when you really get down to it, but I do agree that they have many similar characteristics.

The Kanati is shorter, has larger tips, wider limbs, and more reflex.  I also think it's a hair louder. The grip is nice and it shoots a quick arrow. The wood choices are limited, but I like the black limbs with charcoal riser.

The Whip (I've had a ton) allow for more wood combos and will have smaller tips and a thinner limb but deeper cores. I prefer the grip...a little larger and has the thumbrest. Very quick turn around time as well as many in stock bows to choose from.

You couldn't go wrong with either.

I've never shot an Endeavor but I wouldn't mind. They look nice.

p.s.  Jason mentioned to me in a past email that he was working on a 56" bow that would pull past 29"   I'm on board with that!

I have two Kanati longbows and they are great bows...very little hand shock and plenty fast...very maneuverable in tight spots or in a tree stand....if you haven't shot one you should

I had an Endeavor. Sold it because I dropped weight. Great shooting bow. The handle is more like a smaller recurve grip not blocky at all. Very fast and straight shooting. Awesome looking limb tips. No handshock Would buy another in a heartbeat.

I shot a friend's Endeaver and it was 5-6 pounds heavier than I normally shoot.

I was amazed how smooth it drew and zero hand shock.

The best part is I hit the spot I was looking at with all three arrows.

I would buy one in a heartbeat if I needed another bow, but I only have two arms and my existing 12 or 13 bows don't all get proper rotation as it is. (Nice to look at on the rack though).

The Dwyer Family is as nice as they come. Always have time to talk whether you are buying or not.
Great folks who stand behind their product.

They've been building bows for a long time.
Wood choices are endless.
Their grips are user friendly and/or they will do a custom one for you.

What's not to like?

Can only comment on the KANATI. Had many Have a couple. They are light in the hand. Draw smooth and hit hard! They are real fun to shoot. TxAg said it well. Jason has more wood choices according to his website recently.
